Single Review: Make It by Parker Barrow

Parker Barrow may be a new name to many, but based on Make It, their newly released single and with a UK tour lined up for July 2025, it’s a name that will undoubtedly soon be on the lips of discerning music fans everywhere.

The Nashville based Southern rockers take their moniker from the surnames of the legendary bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde, and like that infamous duo, the band could well be thieves of an altogether different sort, as rather than dollar bills they’re going to be stealing your heart and soul with their charged and thrilling take on bluesy Southern rock n roll.

Opening with a swinging Southern groove of a riff and an insistent snare drum kicking everything into gear, you’re less than ten seconds into the track and you know immediately you’re in for a good time. And that’s before Megan Kane’s soulfully, expressive voice soars in over the top of the riff and lifts things to even greater heights. Her delivery is rich and full, the perfect Southern storyteller heading into a rip-roaring chorus interspersed with harmony backing vocals. That snare drum comes back as the song goes into a beast of a screaming guitar solo, allowing the rest of the band to open up.

Make It is just over three minutes long but manages to cram a lot into those 189 seconds of its run time, hell there’s even a bit of cow-bell, thrown in there for good measure! It’s an upbeat, feel-good beautifully produced tune, that you can’t help but tap your feet along to.

One of the lyrics asks “Give me something to put my faith in…”, well if their live performances are thrilling as this song, then we can put faith in Parker Barrow to keep the fired of good time rock n roll burning for years to come…
