The Way I Am from last year’s Restless album is the lead-off single from The Commoners forthcoming live album, Live in the UK, due to hit your ears on Friday 16 May 2025.
Recorded on their 2024 tour with the Sheepdogs, The Way I Am sees the Canadian band in imperious form. Almost two minutes of ferocious guitar wizardry opens the track, the live setting allowing for an extended intro that shows off the band’s superlative instrumental skills, before Chris Medhurst’s vocals kick in and the song starts in earnest.
A rollicking number, awash with great keyboard sweeps and Ross Citrullo’s southern-fried guitar, the song emphatically delivers on the album’s claim to deliver “the songs you know and love with added parts, extended sections…” It’s an intoxicating statement, capturing the live energy that The Commoners bring to their shows, an energy that you can witness for yourself when they return to UK stages in May/June (see Tour Poster below).
