“Single Review: Never Let Go by Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters

Beth Blade and her Beautiful Disasters roar back into action with their first new music since the release of the excellent “Mythos, Confession, Tragedies and Love” album back in 2022.

The band have a new, (although as yet untitled) album on the way in September, but ahead of that we have the sparkling Never Let Go arriving on 1 May 2025.

Surely the feelgood hit of the summer that you didn’t know you needed in your life, this a very commercially friendly song which I’d expect radio stations to pick up on heavy rotation throughout the summer months. Never Let Go is beautifully constructed, with a sensational and catchy hook that draws you in from the start, coupled with Beth’s wonderfully evocative lyrics. A delicate vocal and restrained verse build up to the full-on chorus with all the “whoa whoas” and “hey heys” present and correct to hammer home that feel good factor. It’s also surprisingly wistful, with a nostalgic yearning in Beth’s fabulous delivery, whilst at the same time being an upbeat singalong tune that will no doubt become a mainstay of future live sets. It perfectly encapsulates that end-of-summer feeling, of long golden days, of youthful dreams, when the future stretched to the far horizon, and wasn’t receding in the rear-view mirror. It’s a sentiment that everyone can relate to, no matter how many years may have passed since those halcyon days. It puts me in mind of The Ataris, a wonderful amalgam of heartfelt lyricism and glorious rock guitars, but with Beth’s uniquely individual twist on it.

Good music should always provoke a reaction, and what this latest offering from Beth Blade and the Beautiful Disasters does is make you want to grab some mates, jump in the car, put the top down (on the one day per year that the U.K. weather allows) stick Never Let Go on at full blast, and drive to the beach for a good old summer party, soundtracked by this brilliantly fun number that will be bouncing round your bonce for weeks to come.

Never Let Go is an anthem for our times; in this oft divided world, it’s a call to remember who we are, the things that matter to us and the connections and people we met along the way to who we are today.

If this is a yardstick of the quality of the rest of the album, then come September, we’re in in for a real treat and we should all be counting the days till it arrives…
